Site Evaluation Presentation Summary Psychiatry

My site evaluator was Dr. Saint Martin, a psychiatrist and lawyer, as well as the medical director for the York College PA program. During my fist site evaluation, I presented one history and physical that I written from my time at the psychiatry ward at Elmhurst Hospital. Dr. Saint Martin offered constructive comments on presenting patients and helped me improve the writing of my H&P. He recommended flushing out the components of the mental status examination that would have helped me be more through as I during my assessment of an adult with a manic episode. When I presented this case Dr. Saint Martin made very appropriate comments. In the end he said I had broad and appropriate differentials with a good assessment and plan. He thought the malingering diagnosis was very fair given the nature of my patient’s actions at his home. He thoroughly assessed my proposed plan for the patient, and we went into a discussion as to what would be done for the patient after he was released from the psych ward. During my second site evaluation I presented an article and two history and physicals. The article focused on a new alternative treatment option for bipolar disorder other than lithium and other traditional mood stabilizers. I also received extensive feedback on my history and physicals. Feedback regarding this area was especially beneficial because it helped me learn how to manage cases and grow as a future medical provider. I appreciated Dr. Saint Martin for the time he took to meet with us and the comments that he made to help us grow as future Physician Assistants.
